TECHNICALITY MAY SPARE PARIS

A little pre-mugshot styling. (Photo by Erik Kabik | Retna)

Paris Hilton has already beat one drug rap this year. She could fade a second one because of the way in which her Friday night search was conducted.

According to Radar Online, because Metro brought Hilton to the Wynn security office and didn’t search her on the scene, it may be an illegal search.

In the meantime, everyone is in a holding pattern waiting for Wynn Las Vegas to announce the fate of XS and Tryst managing partner Cy Waits, who, according to an E! report has already been fired. The Wynn has denied that the report is accurate.

UPDATE: Hilton will, according to TMZ, will be charged with felony possession, which carries a sentence from probation up to four years. Also, Paris claimed she thought the coke in her purse was gum. Because Wrigley’s has that new line of white powdered gum they sell in unmarked plastic baggies.

PARIS TEASES TRYST

Paris Hilton has new shoes, and Paris Hilton has new perfume and Paris Hilton has Jermaine Dupri. Who, coincidentally, could fit inside a perfume bottle.

Hilton, along with parents Kathy and Rick, were at Tryst inside Wynn Las Vegas last night for the launch of her spring shoe collection and Tease, the perfume. Dupri was just there to DJ. Hilton is rolling all of this out for MAGIC, but it could wind up being a footnote in her empire. Hilton said she wanted to get into the family hotel game, which we can imagine would be it’s own special kind of branding hell.

CINCO DE 944

You only get one chance every five years to celebrate an anniversary like this. (Photo by Tony Tran | SpyOnVegas.com)

Congrats to 944, our sister pub that celebrates its 5-year anniversary this weekend. Why, way back in 2005 it was a more innocent time. It was a time when Nickelback and Kanye West were tearing up the charts; a time when updated remakes of classic films like King Kong and War of the Worlds were all the rage; and a time when gas was pushing toward $3 a gallon.

To celebrate, 944 is hosting a weekend’s worth of activities at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore. Starting tonight, doors open at 9 p.m. at Blush for DJ Jace One. Tomorrow, Encore Beach Club gets going at 10 a.m., then moves to Surrender for the night shift at 10:30 p.m. with a surprise performace at 1 a.m.

Winding down on Sunday, DJs Ned Shepard and Mike Da Roza spin at Encore Beach Club, which kicks off at 10 a.m. To score a wristband for entry into the venues, fire out your RSVP at SpyOn.

NEXT BIG HOLLY-RELATED THING

Laura Croft rocking the Beavis & Butt-Head shirt. We may have just swooned. (Photos by Bryan Steffy)

Angel Porrino from Holly’s World landed Next Big Thing honors at Blush inside Wynn Las Vegas while she partied with fellow caster Laura Croft. They kept it going until around 2:30 a.m. As “Things to Receive a Plaque For” go, it’s much more exciting than, say, one of Mayor Goodman’s proclamations. At least they’re only handing these out once a year to a bunch of people. It still means something.

STRATTA NABS WINE AWARD

The baron of the bottle.

Chef Alex Stratta of Wynn’s Alex picket up Wine Spectator’s 2010 Grand Award, one of 75 restaurants to earn the mag’s top honor. Which is a bummer, because we were going to duck in there and see how much the corkage fee would be on a bottle of late ’09 Yellowtail Shiraz. This kind of attention always drives prices way up.

Master Sommelier Paolo Barbieri worked with Wynn’s Executive Wine Director Danielle Price to put together the wine list of 2,200 selections. They’ll pick up their award Oct. 30 at the New World Wine Experience Grand Awards Banquet here in town. We’ll bring an extra bottle of Yellowtail just for the occasion. ONE BRUSH TO RULE THEM ALL

Sensual, yet fit for Animal Planet. (Photos by Tony Tran | SpyOnVegas.com)

Blush broke out the body pant last night for the 5th Annual Battle of the Brushes competition, where make-up artists from six local salons went head to head to see who could come up with the funkiest paint job this side of a 1975 Chevy van. The theme for this year was On the Loose in Vegas, and Maile Bello of Aria Health and Beauty took it down for her peacock job. More makeup wizardry is at SpyOn.

It was also Rams running back Steven Jackson’s birthday, and he turned up with a crew of 18 to drink tequila until 3 a.m. Also checking in was Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, who sprang for a magnum of Grey Goose and a bottle of Dom.

WYNN: HEALTH CARE IS EXPENSIVE

Steve Wynn, seen here posing in a space demolished by Steve Wynn.

Q2 hasn’t been kind to Steve Wynn, with operating losses on Wynn Las Vegas and Encore blowing up to $17.2 million. This as occupancy and net revenues are both up. He blames higher costs on maintenance and employee health benefits. And that, employers, is an object lesson on why you don’t have Free Pony Rides Day for anyone who got their annual physical on time. Click for more words and pictures »

0713TUE: THE ROUNDUP

Music producer or Turtle from Entourage? You decide!

Trance producer George Acosta takes over Blush at Wynn Las Vegas tonight, to do the whole Miami thing. By which we mean rip the heart out of Cleveland on national television, then pretend to be shocked by a nation’s mounting outrage. Wait, that’s not what we mean at all. But that could totally be Miami’s new thing. Click for more words and pictures »

0706TUE: THE ROUNDUP

Roll deep, cash is at stake. (Photo by Tony Tran | SpyOnVegas.com)

Blush at Wynn Las Vegas is looking for the top promoter tonight. The promoter who brings in the largest entourage walks away with $2,500, so this would be the night to start harassing everyone on Facebook. All of Facebook. You never know who might be able to make it from Phoenix in time. Click for more words and pictures »

WYNN BREAKS OUT THE AXE

And not in the Jimmy Page sense.

Wynn Resorts has eliminated 261 jobs — 220 hourly and 41 salaried — from its workforce while at the same time restoring the salaries and hours of other workers who were forced to take cuts a year and a half ago.

Bumping everyone back up to previous levels has added $7.7 million to payroll. It would’ve been $10 million without the cuts. Pressure had been bubbling up within for salaries and hours to be restored, and Steve Wynn said the layoffs were based on merit. “Merit” being a word he picked up in Macau, which when translated means “keeping $2 million on the right side of the equation.” Click for more words and pictures »
