Only the lonely.

Benji Madden, who’ll have to live forever with the shame of having been dumped by Paris Hilton, was in town to drown his sorrows at N9NE Steakhouse with a group of six that included Carey Hart, skater Greg Lutzka and Tal Cooperman, part owner of Madden’s clothing line, DCMA. They were filming a documentary for MTV about themselves.

From there, the crew went to home base — Wasted Space — which Madden and Hart co-own. Madden jumped behind the turntables before they left to go to Body English to catch KRS-One.

Don’t be fooled. If he can turn on Derek Jeter, he can turn on any of us.

Gary Sheffield was out at LAX inside Luxor last night, while UFC fighters Chuck Liddell, Leith Jardine and Dan Henderson were also there. Wasted Space at the Hard Rock, meanwhile, had Bill Goldberg (who had dinner at Nobu with Hulk Hogan) join Shef’s former Yankees teammate Jason Giambi and wrestler Brian Knobbs. We’re going to have to check the records, but this may make it the manliest night in Las Vegas since Charles Atlas and Frank Sinatra went to topless shows, fueled only on bourbon and cigars.

Wasted Space at Hard Rock Hotel goes local tonight, bringing in rockers Cherry Hill along with Theory of Flight and Slow to Surface to Wasted Wednesday. Around where we’re from, there was a famous Cherry Hill Murder in the 1800s where the murderer was sentenced to death in less than 15 minutes. Hands-down, the most awesome thing you can do tonight is go to Wasted Space at Hard Rock Hotel to check out The Head Cat, which is Lemmy Kilmister’s side project featuring Danny B. Harvey and former Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom. This is because everything is better with Lemmy. He’s like alcohol that way. Americana/roots rocker Jackie Greene was at Wasted Space inside the Hard Rock Hotel just weeks before he starts an extended stay with Phil Lesh at the Nokia Theater in New York City. Wait, wasn’t the appeal of the Dead (such as it is) all the traveling? Now Lesh is making the Deadheads come to him? Oh, aging hippies. Don’t ever change.

Greatful Dead-and-blues-influenced Jackie Greene brings his voice that’s eerily halfway between John Cougar Mellencamp and Michael Hutchence to Wasted Space inside Hard Rock Hotel tonight. The whole Dead thing plays out when he works with Phil Lesh, and the Mellencamp you can hear in some of the rootsier, Americana songs. We’re not going to comment on the Hutchence influence.
