Remember we told you about that little party 944 Magazine was throwing in Scottsdale, Ariz. last week to help usher in that little football game Sunday? Well, your friends at Tao nightclub also brought a taste of Vegas nightlife to the Phoenix area this past weekend as they teamed with 944 to present House of Hennessy.
You probably missed it because, well, it was basically a three-day house party held at a private mansion in Chandler, Ariz., and only celebrities and VIPs were invited, treated to barbecue, nightly performances and, of course, Super Bowl parties.
It’s OK though, all you missed were boring sports stars such as Antonio Pierce, Sean Marion and Dennis Rodman, tired actors such as Adrian Grenier, Jerry O’Connell and Julian McMahon, and overrated musicians including Mickey Avalon, Benji Madden and Chad Kroeger. Click for more words and pictures »

It might come as little surprise that The Palms Casino Resort found itself full of celebrities this weekend in town for some Super Bowl action. For three days, the popular off-strip resort played host to stars of music, sports, film and more.
Things kicked off Friday when New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter had dinner at N9NE Steakhouse with a group of friends before wandering up to the Playboy Club to play $200 to $800 hands of blackjack.
Fresh from his Playboy Comedy standup gig in the Palms’ Lounge, Joe Rogan headed up to Moon nightclub with 10 people in tow, relaxing at a table with shots of Le Tourment Vert French Absinthe and Patrón Platinum. Click for more words and pictures »

Tao Restaurant and Nightclub is really getting into the “Big Game” this weekend — on both coasts. First up, if you’d like to check out some alternative food options to your tired chicken wings and hot dogs for game day, tune in your boob tube to NBC this Friday at 8:30 a.m. EST. Tao Executive Chef Sam Hazen brings some Tao signature dishes and items updated for Super Sunday enjoyment to the Today Show, including Roasted Buddha Chicken Lollipops, Dragon Tail Spare Ribs with Spicy Mustard and Super Bowl Oyster Shooters.
Later that night, at Tao Las Vegas inside the Venetian, Penthouse Pets from the Penthouse Club Las Vegas will host the first of two pre-game parties at the nightclub with the help of DJ Reach. Saturday night, it’s pre-game party part two with DJ M.O.S. spinning hip-hop, mash-ups and house music.
Just remember to set an alarm on Sunday afternoon lest you sleep through the game after two straight nights of partying.

So you can’t travel to Phoenix for the “Big Game.” Heck, you can’t even go to Scottsdale, Ariz. for the 944 Super Village. Maybe you need to add insult to injury on Super Sunday. Well, we know a place where the insults run rampant …
Dick’s Last Resort, the self-described “silliest spot on the Strip” — and really, who are we to argue? — is hosting a celebration starting at 1 p.m. this Sunday for the “Big Game” with food and drink specials, pre-game and halftime entertainment by Dick’s own Taco, and of course, the game itself broadcast on 46 HD flat screen TVs.
No matter who wins, local cover band Panama will be on hand after the game inside the Excalibur bar and restaurant with its versions of your favorite rock songs. Of course, even the power of rock ‘n’ roll might not help the gaping hole in your wallet if your money invested at the Excalibur’s sports book goes to waste on a losing team.

Ever wonder just what is a “Nevada Style Pub?” We do. But even after going to Steiner’s (8168 Las Vegas Blvd. S.) multiple times, we’re still not sure.
Well, either way, football fans will want to be at that Las Vegas Boulevard location this Friday, Feb. 1, from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Why? Because 16 NFL legends will be on hand to meet and greet fans, sign autographs and — who knows — maybe even start a game of touch football in the parking lot.
OK, that last part probably won’t happen, but you still probably want to show up to start your “Big Game” weekend right with such greats as Hugh Green, Ickey Woods, Art Still, Bobby Bell, Steve Wallace and more former pigskin players than we can count. Because on Sesame Street, that damn counting song never went past 12. Click for more words and pictures »

The day before all you fine people stuff your faces with pizza and wings while watching Super Bowl XLII, you might want to partake in a different kind of dining experience to help those who aren’t so fortunate to engorge themselves in front of a big-screen TV on game day.
Luxor’s Company American Bistro will be a part of the 17th annual Taste of the NFL event on Feb. 2, a charity that raises money for local and national hunger organizations. Participating restaurants — typically, one in each of the 32 NFL cities, but since we’re Las Vegas, we’re getting in on the action despite not having a team — will serve one special dish for the thousands of attendees to savor. Company’s dish will be a Braised Oxtail with Celeriac Mousseline and Black Truffle Vinaigrette. Click for more words and pictures »
