Worst. Post-apocalypse. Ever. (Photos by Scott Harrison | Retna)
Lady Gaga’s opening act, Semi Precious Weapons turned up with Bai Ling at Studio 54 inside MGM Friday night for the Gaga afterparty like refugees from the Trashy Gay Thunderdome. Gaga used to open for Weapons in New York, now they’re appearing in her video for “Telephone” and opening for her on this tour.
Lead singer Justin Tranter DJ’d for a crowd of Lady Gaga impersonators, which, all in all, has to be kind of an easy crowd to please. We’re pretty sure we could leave an old mixtape of EMF and Jesus Jones on and it’d be enough for that crowd.
Over at sister club Tabu, UFC fighter Jon Fitch did his bachelor party with Josh Koscheck, Josh Thomson and Phil Baroni. It was another bachelor/bachelorette party, because apparently no one wants to listen to us about that kind of thing. Fiancee Michele Cao spent the night in her wedding veil. See? That’s why you don’t want to combine the two. That’s way too much wedding nonsense for one dude to have to endure.
Meanwhile, Planet Hollywood had Molly Sims and Jennifer Flavin-Stallone for the Home Shopping Network’s 33rd anniversary. They were doing live broadcasts and exhibits from the hotel along with Tori Spelling, Wolfgang Puck Susan Lucci and others.

GAH, HIT IT WITH A BRICK. Oh, wait, it’s just Steven Tyler.
Steven Tyler follows up the Aerosmith/Sammy Hagar jam at MGM Grand Garden Arena by hosting at Studio 54 tonight. Normally to be this close to aging rock stars, you’d have to go to a state fair. And they’d be the guys from Jackyl. Which, actually, now that we think about it, would be kind of awesome. Click for more words and pictures »

Well, the first thing we learned about UFC is that you get showgirls with your birthday cake. (Photo by Ethan Miller)
Through a kind of ridiculous bout of good fortune, we found ourselves sitting in the second row Saturday night for UFC 116 at MGM Grand Garden Arena. We realize there are about a million hardcore UFC fans that deserved seats that good more, but we’ll just count ourselves lucky and hold the taunting to a minimum. Mostly because it doesn’t pay to alienate a fanbase that’s really into punching.
We always enjoyed the fights before, but can’t really say we followed them with regularity. As with boxing, though, being up close for a fight is worlds away from watching it on TV. Not just for the blasting soundsystem or 40 percent chance of catching a mouthguard that just got kicked out of someone’s head, either. You learn lots of things when you’re up close and personal. Here are the top six we picked up. Click for more words and pictures »

We’re so confused. B.A. Baracus shouldn’t be losing fights. What would Hannibal think? He’d be embarrassed. Face wouldn’t even be able to show his … face.
Yet there was Rashad Evans, winner of a unanimous decision over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson Saturday night at UFC 114 celebrating his victory at Tabu inside MGM Grand. He came in with a crew of 30, though we assure you Mad Murdock didn’t number in that bunch.
Ring announcer Bruce Buffer stopped in to congratulate Evans. Over at Studio 54, Forrest Griffin partied with Josh Koscheck and Cain Velasquez, while Anderson Silva, Clay Guida, Antonio Nogueira, Gabriel Gonzaga, Melvin Guillard, Joey Villasenor, Phil Baroni, Jamie Yager, John Chaimberg and Junior Dos Sanos all made the preparty on Friday night.
Guida passed around an In-N-Out paper hat to other fighters on the red carpet. It was either an elaborate prop or what Dana White was threatening everyone with if they started losing too many fights.

OK, seriously, now that playtime’s over, when’s the Pacquiao fight?
Floyd Mayweather Jr. did what he had to do Saturday night against Shane Mosley, posting a unanimous decision to remain undefeated. Now comes the circus.
“If Manny Pacquiao can take a blood and urine test then we have a fight,” Mayweather said to the AP. “If not, no fight.”
In the meantime, Mayweather celebrated his victory at MGM Grand’s Studio 54. Hey, with at least $22.5 million guaranteed, plus more coming in from the pay-per-view, plus a legitimate claim as one of the greatest fighters of all time in front of a ringside crowd that included Muhammad Ali, we’d say that makes for a solid evening. Now if you’ll excuses us, we’re going to go back to spending our weekends serving tea to Mr. Wuzzles, our closest friend and Knight of Her Majesty’s Teddy Bear Cavalry. It’s more or less the same thing.

Diddy makes this fight an event. (Photos by Scott Harrison | Retna. Additional photos courtesy of XS.)
Is the Floyd Mayweather comeback tonight’s main event? What are you, some kind of savage? Massive sporting events aren’t enough of a thing on their own. Just like tuxedo jetskiing and children’s birthday parties, any event can be enhanced by the presence of Diddy. He hosts a fight afterparty at Eve inside Crystals, while the official afterparty is at MGM Grand’s Studio 54. Blush at Wynn Las Vegas goes a different route, bringing in Nelsan Ellis of True Blood for the vampire-iest fight party in town, and Rockhouse at Imperial Palace counters with the May “First” Weather afterparty. Saturday night, world renowned mix-master DJ Skribble joined forces with legendary shirtless Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro for a night of trendy mash-ups blended with live guitar for some reason that still hasn’t been properly explained to us. The duo took stage at Studio 54 inside the MGM as part of the newly launched weekly Saturday night production, Freak Show.
Despite performing with Nine Inch Nails, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Marilyn Manson, Navarro is still most well-known for being weird looking. The ink-covered guitarist was joined onstage during the performance by a host of freak show-esque performers like sub-par go-go dancers, a dude with a funny mustache and a lady holding a snake – presumably to mirror that dream you try to forget.

After closing Freaks suddenly in December, the Swingshift Sidewhow was left without a home on the Strip (though still doing performances in the finest dive bars the city has to offer). They made their return to Las Vegas Boulevard Saturday night for the start of DJ Skribble’s residency, the appropriately named Freak Show, at Studio 54 inside MGM Grand.
Skribble’s mash-up offers a different aural backdrop for the Sideshow, which just last week was apologizing for its use of Annie Lennox. At the very least, you expect creepy circus music in an abandoned amusement park, but sometimes, you just have to settle for a prominent, established, glitzy nightclub instead.

From a stint on MTV’s The Grind and Spring Break to radio, studio work and life on the road as a touring DJ, Long Island’s DJ Skribble is carving out a home for himself in the circus.
Well, Studio 54′s version of the circus, anyway.
Joining the likes of Paul Oakenfold and Z-Trip as jocks with a show, DJ Skribble’s Freak Show starts Saturday night at the MGM Grand club. In between weekend gigs in town, Skribble will still be out on the road — and finding the time to tutor a precocious DJ Pauly D in the ways of the celebrity DJ lifestyle.
