DAILY SIP: PEACHY KEEN SNOW QUEEN

Peachy Keen, contrary to popular belief, was not a character on Strawberry Shortcake. Who knew?

If, like the Presidents of the United States of America, you had your way you’d eat peaches every day, Steiner’s (8410 W. Cheyenne Ave.) has a cocktail for when the Fuzzy Navel is a little too 17-year-old girl and the Bellini is a little too pulpy.

The Peachy Keen Snow Queen draws its name from the organic Kazakhstani Snow Queen vodka, which is enhanced with a quarter ounce of peach schnapps, a quarter ounce of vanilla liqueur and peach Crystal Light iced tea. Served up in a cocktail glass rimmed with Mandarin orange-flavored sugar and garnished with a peach slice, the drink is the creation of bartender Sherlyn Segura and is available only at the Cheyenne location.

Light and sweet, the Peachy Queen Snow Queen would be a solid addition to your beach cooler for those blazing hot days where you want to keep your buzz levels comfortably mellow, but still want something sweet to quench your thirst.

Mostly, the initial impression is just sweet, with the peach flavors sliding in underneath the sugary wave. The vanilla doesn’t pop, but instead lingers just on the edge of the aftertaste. It’s a delicate, airy libation that makes summer refreshment its first priority.

STEINER’S TO HOST NFL LEGENDS

Steiner’s

Ever wonder just what is a “Nevada Style Pub?” We do. But even after going to Steiner’s (8168 Las Vegas Blvd. S.) multiple times, we’re still not sure.

Well, either way, football fans will want to be at that Las Vegas Boulevard location this Friday, Feb. 1, from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Why? Because 16 NFL legends will be on hand to meet and greet fans, sign autographs and — who knows — maybe even start a game of touch football in the parking lot.

OK, that last part probably won’t happen, but you still probably want to show up to start your “Big Game” weekend right with such greats as Hugh Green, Ickey Woods, Art Still, Bobby Bell, Steve Wallace and more former pigskin players than we can count. Because on Sesame Street, that damn counting song never went past 12. Click for more words and pictures »
