PAIR OF COMEDIES UNDER WAY

At least it’s not another sports movie. (Photos by Erik Kabik | Retna)

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg were shooting buddy-cop comedy The Other Guys at the Flamingo Saturday. It’s mostly set in New York and co-stars Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson, and is directed by FunnyOrDie’s Adam McKay, who co-wrote and directed Anchorman, Step Brothers and Talladega Nights. It has an Aug. 6 release date, which should give you plenty of time to rewatch Anchorman and parts of Elf and remember when Will Ferrell used to care.

It’s not the only movie being shot in town right now. Todd Phillips is doing Hangover follow-up Due Date with Zach Galifianakis and Robert Downey Jr. right now. Galifianakis was spotted at the Imperial Palace’s Rockhouse Thursday night drinking from one of their guitars. If you’re lucky and can catch some of the shooting on set, you can get a jump on your Zach Galifianakis costume for next Halloween.

0923WED: THE ROUNDUP

Rockhouse
Just like grandpa’s fundraisers.

Rockhouse at Imperial Palace and Skeletal Metal are getting together for the Stephen Murray Bar Benefit tonight at 7 p.m. Murray, a BMX rider, crashed his bike during a double back-flip at the Dew Action Sports Tour in Baltimore in 2007 that left him a quadriplegic. All of the $10 cover charge and proceeds from a silent auction of BMX items and Skeletal MEtal Jewelry tonight will go to the Stephen Murray Family Fund, as will a percentage of the bar take. ROCKHOUSE MAKES ANOTHER GO OF IT

OK, you’re right. This is a better use of the tire swing than backyard sports practice. (Photo by Sullivan Charles | SpyOnVegas.com)

Rockhouse made is grand re-opening last night, transforming from a post-Beacher’s vibe to a dive bar-adjacent, shabby-chic lounge. Which is fitting, considering it fronts the shabby-shabby Imperial Palace.

(Walking past the high limit slot section on our way to Rockhouse last night, we smart-assedly thought, “What’s in there? The dollar slots?” Turns out, yes. That’s exactly what’s in there.)

Rockhouse is a small little joint that packs enough of an audio wallop that one passer-by on the street actually held his hands over his ears as he strode past the ersatz sidewalk disco. With exposed brick walls and and pipe railings, the overall feeling is of a cast-off warehouse space where a dozen flat-screen TVs playing AC/DC videos got hooked up.
