Tuesday means it’s time for Live Revolution at Revolution Lounge inside The Mirage, this week featuring Austin SXSW vets The Boxing Lesson, Arizona trio Mostly Bears, who we believe are composed of two Kodiaks and a koala (which is actually a marsupial), and Orange County’s The Union Line. If you fear bear attacks, we don’t blame you. Read on for your options. Click for more words and pictures »

Live Revolution turns to local talent tonight at the Revolution Lounge inside The Mirage when indie rockers Black Camaro take the stage with Los Angeles rock ‘n’ roll quartet Astra Heights and garage metal act The Human Value.
With two bandmembers in aviator sunglasses, the ironic hipster quotient in the club could reach dangerous Garofolo-esque levels. The Department of Homeland Security has updated the threat level to Pabst Blue.

Fire up the Molly Hatchet and flirt with disaster, because Revolution Lounge inside The Mirage is taking a turn to the trailer park.
For the second installment of Rocket Wednesdays, the lounge is offering up free vodka drinks until 1 a.m. for anyone sporting trucker caps, tank tops or mullets. We say, why stop there? Drive right up in a ‘69 Charger, blast a horn that plays “Dixie” and roll into the joint with a few jugs of high-grade moonshine before engaging any and all people who make eye contact with you in a ceaseless diatribe about the relative merits and weaknesses of Dale Jarrett. No, trust us, it’ll be golden. You can thank us later.
We see what you did there. (Photos by Ray Alamo | SpyOnVegas.com)
Carrot Top swung by for the debut of Rocket Wednesdays at Revolution Lounge inside The Mirage last night because as we all know, the Top loves the rock. This is why if the whole comedy thing doesn’t work out, he’s ready to line up a side gig as the drummer in a Thin Lizzy tribute band.
The rock ‘n’ roll-mash-up party saw a packed house listen to DJ Presto One handle all the turntable chores as DJ Spair was a late scratch (get it? scratch! get it? huh? huh?) due to illness. Heavy on the Red Hot Chili Peppers, his set also featured (fortunately) Living Color, (unfortunately) Limp Bizkit and (naturally) Journey. (Seriously, let’s all take a breather with the “Don’t Stop Believing,” OK? Just let it cool off for a few months. Please. We’re begging you.) Spair will return next week.
Said Kozmoe Alonzo, Revolution’s director of creative marketing and events: “We want to be the alternative to the usual hip-hop club and we feel like we’ve pushed the envelope and created a new genre of club mash ups. We’re not afraid to play what nobody else will, because there’s always going to be somebody that wants to hear it.” This is good news for our plan for a klezmer/throat singing mash-up night. Tonight at 9 p.m., Revolution Lounge inside The Mirage is holding a benefit for the Caring for Kids Foundation to benefit homeless children, hosted by model Audrey Kitching.
The benefit features a spate of bands and DJs, including Grimehaus, Linda Strawberry, who played keyboards for Billy Corgan on his solo tour, rockers Big Friendly Corp., Mike Attack, Australian outfit The Red Paintings, and cowpunk headliner The Clydesdale. It also features live painters, a photo booth, and pony rides through The Mirage. Kids love ponies. OK, maybe there aren’t any ponies, but it’s a killer idea and they should take us up on it next year.
FACT: This is not a Photoshop effect. Hobie glows.
Ed Hardy’s new line of intimate apparel and swimwear will be unveiled tomorrow night at The Mirage’s Revolution Lounge, hosted by Jeremy Jackson. You might know Jackson as the kid who played Hobie on Baywatch, or, as he was known worldwide, Son of Hoff.
DJ Leo Teo spins at 10 p.m. Hopefully, Jackson won’t get one too many cocktails in him and end up like TV dad. Go ahead, go watch it again. It really doesn’t ever get old.
Will.i.am at Revolution Lounge, after having been led to believe Michael Mann was casting Miami Vice 2.
Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am was at Revolution Lounge at The Mirage last night to celebrate the birthday of girlfriend Karina Salmeron with about 40 friends, including fellow Pea apl.de.ap, Live singer Ed Kowalczyk and celebrity hairstylist Kim Vo, who couldn’t do anything for Kowalczyk now matter how much he begged Vo to “help a brother out.”
The crew dined at Stack where they put away four bottles of Cristal.
Will.i.am and Salmeron took in a show of Love beforehand, and he’s rumored to be in town working on Michael Jackson’s new album tentatively titled Hey, You Loved Thriller And Kind Of Liked Bad, So Come On, Give This One A Shot. Please?
Who’s more tortured as an artist, Daughtry or Ed Kowalczyck?
Chris Daughtry took a break from writing his next big hit that sounds kind of like a Nickleback song, but not as rockin’, to put his American Idol-approved pipes to use at Revolution Lounge inside The Mirage last night for charity.
Daughtry and company raised $20,000 in seven days for the ONE Campaign to fight AIDS and poverty worldwide. Will.i.am, who will be back at Revolution tonight, and apl.de.ap from the Black Eyed Peas were there, as was Live frontman Ed Kowalczyck.
Kowalczyck and Daughtry came together on stage to do “I Walk the Line” in a two-man whirlwind of bald fury the likes of which hasn’t been seen since Telly Savalas and Patrick Stewart joined up to do a very plaintive, very serious version of “A Boy Named Sue.”
First Revolution Lounge brought in Fergie a couple of weeks ago, now the lounge at The Mirage will welcome will.i.am. for a SpyOnVegas.com Open Bar event. Clearly, they’ll have to get apl.de.ap in there sometime before June.
