It’s just like Almost Famous, isn’t it? (Via myspace.com/searchlightmusic)
Local act Searchlight, which landed a song on the Resident Evil: Extinction soundtrack (working title: Exile on Zombie Street), leads the way during Live Revolution at Revolution Lounge inside The Mirage tonight. We’re not promising that the show will devolve in a shambling zombie attack, but they’re really only one degree of separation away, aren’t they? Click for more words and pictures »

Cutting right to the heart of the “rock and groupies” concept. (Photo by Ray Alamo | SpyOnVegas.com)
Revolution Lounge at The Mirage tailors Rocket Wednesday tonight to a rock stars and groupies experience. It’s kind of like a pimps ‘n’ hos ball, but with backstage passes. Be careful, though, groupies that you don’t bring any brown M&Ms to the rock stars. We recommend going as Eric Clapton, Pattie Boyd and George Harrison, then spending the entire night fighting and writing enduring rock classics. Click for more words and pictures »

We have got to get ourselves a day-glo green headband.
Members of Daughtry — Joey Barnes, Josh Steely, Brian Craddock and Josh Paul but not Chris Daughtry himself — were hanging out after the show at Revolution Lounge Sunday night inside The Mirage.
In a related story of people-who-will-be-of-interest-to-fans-of-Ellen, Kathy Griffin had dinner with Rosie O’Donnell at Fix at Bellagio Saturday night. If that didn’t pack an estrogen-y enough punch for you, the duo then went to Caesars to take in a Cher show. Also there, newsbuzzard Larry King. All three met Cher backstage. When Kathy Griffin is the hippest one in the room, you have got yourself something going right there.

The Love Grenades and Ian Shane Tyler head up tonight’s installment of Live Revolution at The Mirage’s Revolution Lounge. The Los Angeles-based Love Grenades, fronted by Liz Wright, are a disco-pop outfit that recalls both Daft Punk and Blondie. Well, without the robot heads, sadly. Tyler, formerly of Red Light School District, is supporting his new album, Through a Telescope. He also makes no use of robot heads in his set. What’s a brother got to do to get more robot heads up in here? Click for more words and pictures »

Is it is, or is Slash slowly evolving into a Delta bluesman? (Photo by Scott Harrison | Retna)
It’s hard to imagine, but it was 43 years ago tomorrow that little Baby Slash, top hat, sunglasses and all, came into the world. It’s true, though, and for two days across three venues, it’s nonstop leather pants and wailing Les Pauls.
First, Bare Pool Lounge has Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction on the turntables to warm up the crowd at 9 p.m. before Slash and surprise guests put on an outdoor show. We’re kind of hoping the surprise guest rhymes with “Bizzy Bradlin.”
From there, around 12:30 a.m., the party moves over to Revolution Lounge for the back half of Rocket Wednesday.
Then on Thursday, Slash will do an acoustic set at Jet and will.i.am. of the Black Eyed Peas follows with a go-round on the wheels of steel. We sincerely hope Slash doesn’t give in to what the crowd expects and turns in a rendition of “Patience.” We’d much rather hear the gnarliest acoustic version of “Mr. Brownstone” ever. After all, he won’t leave us alone.

Well, they certainly are filthy.
Tonight’s installment of Live Revolution at Revolution Lounge inside The Mirage features U.K. indie rockers The Filthy Souls headlining. Clocking in somewhere between U2 and The Wallflowers, The Filthy Souls are Stateside trying to drum up interest from a U.S. record label. We approve of anyone who makes liberal use of the word “filthy.”
They’ll be joined by New Wave duo The Start, playing cuts from their third album, and Las Vegas-based The Day After who bring their brand of Evanescence-esque rock to the kids with the thick-framed glasses.

The Vinyl Clouds record their albums exclusively aboard the husk of Skylab. (Via myspace.com/thevinylclouds)
Live Revolution continues tonight at Revolution Lounge inside The Mirage with a pair of local acts and a California shoegaze quintet. Trio The Vinyl Clouds and contemporaries Hey Mister represent the local scene, while Oslo, sadly, has very little to do with Norway. Click for more words and pictures »

Well, we can all see which hand five o’clock shadow on the right uses to baste the ol’ turkey. To play a little catch with Martin Short. To festoon the room with balloons and streamers for a party. To do a little of the ol’ theoretical quantum physics with Stephen Hawking, if you know what we mean. We think you do.

Rocky IV. The Russian-beatingist Rocky of them all. (Via Rocky.com)
Sylvester Stalllone, Robert Earl, Jason Statham and a group of 20 were at Revolution Lounge last night for their Red, White and Bikinis event. They went with the standards: Grey Goose, Patron and Dom Perignon Rose. We’re not sure where Carl Weathers was, but we assume he pretty much had to be around somewhere.
Poker player Phil Ivy and producer Irv Gotti were also there, although it’s unclear if either of them were wearing silk, American flag boxers.
Earlier, Stallone and Statham had dinner at Strip House inside Planet Hollywood Resorts. They — they must’ve brought something up to the room for Carl, right? Right?

It’s just a shame that so many pink leopards had to die for fashion.
Bikinis. We love them. You love them. Undiscovered tribes in the Amazon love them. Well, they usually love the ones made out of coconuts, but no big deal. We can live with that. Revolution Lounge at The Mirage holds Bikinis & Boardshorts tonight featuring a Malibu Strings model search, as well as other prizes and free admission for anyone in swimwear. We plan on sporting one of these. Trying to keep the sand out of your shorts? Read on for your options. Click for more words and pictures »
