Good lord. Randy Couture’s manager, Sam Spira, was driving in LA when his BMW just straight-up burst into flames. Did … did Couture piss off Joe Pesci in early ’80s Vegas? Did he shoot straight up out of the car like a human rocket in a Marie Callender’s parking lot?

Not a bad year for Randy Couture. He notched wins over Mark Coleman and former boxer James Toney in UFC 109 and 118, respectively, and in between found time to film the summer blockbuster The Expendables, which has hauled in $266 million worldwide so far.
The veteran fighter hosts tomorrow’s World MMA Awards at The Pearl inside the Palms, put on by Fighters Only magazine to celebrate the year in pummeling. Tickets are $59, $79 and $99.
We talked to Couture about his next flick with Bruce Willis, working with Sylvester Stallone and David Mamet, and just how close he is to retirement from the cage. Click for more words and pictures »

Randy Couture hit up Studio 54 at MGM Grand after his second-round loss to Brock Lesnar at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday night. Lesnar, who we believe is something like 8-foot-6, 429 pounds, won the heavyweight title with a TKO of Couture.
The Natural was there with his wife, Kim, while chants of “Randy” broke out among fans. Other UFC fighters in attendance were Kevin Randleman, Urijah Faber, Gabriel Gonzaga, Mike Pyle, and announcer Bruce Buffer. Non-UFC fighter Rob Schneider was there, as was alleged girl-fighter Suge Knight. It wasn’t all bad news for Couture this weekend, as Todd Beard, former president of Affliction, who Kim Couture just got a restraining order against, apologized and said he’ll go to rehab.
On Friday night at 54, ring girl Arianny Celeste continued her 23rd birthday celebration, joined by fighters Heath Herring, BJ Penn, Mac Danzig and Matt Lindland.

The Natural is getting as familiar with the courts as the octagon. Just a day after Randy Couture’s wife, Kim, obtained a restraining order against Affliction president Todd Beard, word is out that Couture is being sued by an event planner for failure to pay in full a $175,000 bill.
Toast of New York, LLC, says it planned an event for the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation to benefit the nonprofit and support the launch of Couture’s clothing line on May 27, 2007. The company claims it did a camouflage carpet and put a DJ in the octagon among other touches.
“Our client was not responsible for selling tickets or getting sponsors to the event — Couture’s agent, Matt Walker, believed Couture’s name would be a big enough draw to bring sponsors and ticket holders in droves. The suit alleges that when neither the crowds nor the sponsors showed, Couture only paid $50,000 of the $175,000 bill,” attorney for the plaintiff Terry Coffing said.
A spokeswoman for Couture declined comment.

Kim Couture, wife of UFC fighter Randy Couture, has obtained a restraining order against Affliction president Todd Beard, saying he has “been on a campaign of terror against them since they asked for an accounting of profits.”
The temporary restraining order prohibits Beard from attending Couture’s fight against Brock Lesner Saturday at the MGM Grand.

CatHouse inside the Luxor Las Vegas experienced another weekend as a popular spot for the rich and famous to dine, drink and dance. Friday, UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta and president Dana White were spotted dining together at the bordello-inspired restaurant. Also enjoying dinner at CatHouse Friday, though separately, were Elaine Wynn and Criss Angel.
The next evening saw the usual Saturday night madness in the venue’s Loungerie. Dancing With the Stars‘ Kym Johnson danced atop a table in a sequined dress while magician Steve Wyrick and his Phoenix Suns cheerleader girlfriend cozied up at another table.
UFC heavyweight champ Randy Couture, along with his wife, Kim, his manager and a group of friends partied late into the night in the Loungerie. Kim left with a souvenir: CatHouse lingerie purchased by Randy. Sounds like someone was looking to get lucky that night.
