PRIVE: WE’RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE

Privemoney
Hey, remember that 20 minutes there was no controversy here?

Prive at Planet Hollywood had been controversy-free since October when the County Commission started granting the club a series of temporary liquor licenses while Metro conducted its investigation of new ownership group Vegas Nightlife Partners LLC.

But then, according to published reports yesterday, a court filing from new Planet Hollywood owner Harrah’s:

(T)hat Privé is in default on its lease because it has made just one of the $50,000 payments (stemming from its $500,000 fine); has failed to reimburse Planet Hollywood for $12,388 in extra security costs; has failed to pay all the rent due for January, February and March; and has allowed construction liens totaling $1.433 million to pile up against the property.

The report also said that Prive was seeking 90 days to decide whether to maintain its lease or move out of Planet Hollywood.

A spokeswoman for Vegas Nightlife Partners, though, contends that Prive isn’t looking to go anywhere other than the P-Ho’s second floor, and that Planet Hollywood, in fact, owes them money.

“Prive is up to date on all rent payments, and is in fact currently owed money by Planet Hollywood,” spokeswoman Vanessa Menkes said. “Prive has no plans to close or relocate, as Prive is a cornerstone of the original Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, responsible for bringing in other key tenants and adding celebrity buzz and glamor to the resort.”

THERE SHE AND MARIO LOPEZ ARE

America
Super Bowl III MVP, Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron. She had a great game against the Colts. (Photos by Scott Harrison | Retna)

Not even a dancing Rush Limbaugh could stop the Miss America train from a-rollin’ Saturday night at Planet Hollywood, where Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron took the tiara. We think Miss Puerto Rico kind of got robbed, but whatever. When we get our Fantasy Miss America League up and running, we’re still going to take her ahead of Kyle Orton, who’s completely overrated.

It was the backdrop for a big weekend for Mario Lopez, who’s emerged as the new dude-face of Miss America. On Friday he had dinner at Strip House with nine friends, including Eva Longoria’s mother, Ella Eva Mireles Longoria. That’s … kind of weird. To be hanging out with your friends’ moms. We’re pretty sure if we tried to hang out with some of our friends’ moms they’d still yell at us for like, leaving our bicycle in front of the driveway, or eating all the good junk food on a sleepover 20 years ago.

Lopez also brought his girlfriend, Courtney Mazza, to Prive Friday night

Egglesfield
We could also accept “The Power” in lieu of “Rhythm is a Dancer.”

Melrose Place’s Colin Egglesfield hosts at Prive inside Planet Hollywood Resort tonight. Not the original Melrose Place, unfortunately. The new remake. Otherwise it would be nothing but wall-to-wall Ace of Base and “Rhythm is a Dancer” and that would officially make it the greatest night in the history of nightclubs. Take our word for it: The world needs more Snap! You are required by law to like any early-’90s dance song where its obligatory rap breakdown includes the line, “I’m serious as CANCER, rhythm is a dancer.” Feeling good on the dance floor and rolling in the positive affirmation gestalt of ’90s electronica? Awesome. Now think about terminal illness.

(Did Wham! ever sue Snap! for infringement? They should have. It’s not like Andrew Ridgeley was too busy to do it. In fact, his entire calendar for ‘93 could have been blocked out with “File lawsuit against Snap!” and no one ever would’ve known the difference.) Click for more words and pictures »

WARNING: There’s no guarantee that you won’t get K-Fedded.

Steve Aoki returns to Prive inside Planet Hollywood tonight. We’re pretty sure he’s there just to lure in the National Finals Rodeo crowd. Actually, come to think of it, if they threw on a strobe light and some house music to freak out the bulls, there’s zero chance we wouldn’t DVR every rodeo on TV. Click for more words and pictures »

Cobra
DJ Cobra, seen here in the elevator leading beneath Cobra Island.

Sid Vicious squares off with DJ Cobra tonight in a turntable battle at Prive inside Planet Hollywood. He is not to be confused with DJ Cobra-La, who works parties for Serpentor. Everyone usually loves them except Dr. Mindbender, who spends his time sulking in a corner complaining he never gets to hear enough old-school hip-hop during those sets. Wow, we just managed to fill ourselves with even more nerdshame than usual. Click for more words and pictures »

PATTERSON SWINGS AXE AT PRIVE

Patterson
Oh, you can leave Korn, but you can never really leave Satan behind.

Rob Patterson was at Prive to both spin and shred Monday night. The former Korn guitarist held down the decks with a laptop that sported a “Carmen” license plate, before giving way to guitar. His fiancee, Carmen Electra, is currently up the road at MGM Grand.

Patterson was working the turntables on a Monday after Jermaine Dupri took over We Rock Hip Hop and will host it on Friday nights. No word yet on what Monday nights will become, but it’s probably fair to extrapolate from this that it’ll be nu-metal night with resident DJ Fred Durst. That sounds about right.

PRIVE MAKES IT OFFICIAL WITH DUPRI

dupri
Hey, if he was going to be there anyway …

Jermaine Dupri was already Prive’s de facto go-to DJ, and now they’ve gone and put a ring on it. The So So Def Recordings founder and former beau to Janet Jackson, will be the Friday night resident at the Planet Hollywood club starting tonight as We Rock Hip Hop shifts from Mondays to Fridays. Dupri will appear most Fridays — he’s already scheduled for the Oct. 16 and 23. Dupri has made fairly regular appearances at the club since July ‘08, and has seriously stepped up his presence since spring.

PRIVE OK’D FOR TEMPORARIES

prive_liquor

For its third hearing with the County Commission, it looks like most of Prive’s troubles will be over — unless one of the 11 conditions of its temporary liquor license is violated. Or Metro’s 12 to 18-month investigation for a permanent license finds something it doesn’t like in that timeframe. Or if one of the officers gets eaten by an alligator on their possible $10,000 too $15,000 fact-finding mission to Miami, or if Gloria Estefan uses the Miami Sound Machine to stage a coup and declare Florida the sovereign state of Rhythmisgonnagetchastan, etc.

Regardless, the Commission voted 5-1 in favor of granting the Planet Hollywood club a 90-day temporary liquor license on the condition that the club maintains its good behavior during Metro’s ongoing investigation into the ownership group of Jamie Rubinson and Roman K. Jones and new key employees.

“Conditions have been met during this period and the Prive management has implemented an aggressive policy to handle issues resulting from patron conduct and behavior,” Business License Director Jacqueline Holloway said. “Prive has also demonstrated an aggressive security and reporting approach. The department provided the commissioners with a binder that listed all the meeting summaries. To date we have had three meetings. One in August, September and October. The meetings have involved Prive as well as Planet Hollywood.”

Though there were contractors who came forward to speak against the Opium Group, citing non-payment for services, the Commission wasn’t prepared to take that issue into account for today’s vote.

Metro is hoping to secure at least two, possibly three officers to go to Miami to investigate Opium’s business practices — previous investigations have cost between $10,000 and $15,000 according to Holloway — on Opium’s dime.

If Prive violates any of its 11 conditions for a temporary license during the investigation period, the club will be shut down, but both Holloway and commissioners cited the club’s change of ways in being prompt to report any incidents it has had with customers since it initially had its liquor license revoked. If management at the club keeps their nose clean in the meantime (literally), temporary licenses will continue to be issued while the investigation proceeds.
