It’s another Monday and another edition of Rok Box at Tabu courtesy of DJs Scotty Boy and Daryl O, presenting a slew of rock and hip-hop mash-up. We tend to prefer our rock unmashed, or at least lumpy. Kind of a homestyle rock. It’s even better if you leave the skins on. Click for more words and pictures »

We’re sure you stunned all your friends and wowed the ladies by sending that five bones to a fiery grave. For your next trick, you should melt down a handful of nickels there, Billy Gates.

Do not, under any circumstances, tell Chuck Liddell, “Hit me!”
Chuck Liddell started UFC 86 weekend in grand, old-school Vegas tradition, dealing blackjack at the Hard Rock Hotel Friday night. It also marked a new record for player 20s beat by dealer 21s that went by without complaint. Not since O.J. dealt a few hands in ‘95 were players so cheerful about losing.
Over at Studio 54 inside MGM Grand, ring girl Arianny Celeste hosted a prefight party along with WEC fighter Urijah Faber. Devon George of the Dallas Mavericks also stopped by.
Saturday night was the main event, with Forrest Griffin capturing the light heavyweight title from Quinton “Rampage” Jackson by unanimous decision. The Iceman hosted the official afterparty at Studio 54, stopping on the way in to greet fans before settling in to his skybox. Click for more words and pictures »

Wet Republic at MGM Grand knows what Fourth of July Weekend is all about: Grilling. For the third straight day, the pool holds a backyard barbecue at 11 a.m. to ensure that you will have consumed at least your body weight in hamburgers and hot dogs. It’s a noble calling. Kaskade spins to make it all go down easier. Now for some potato salad. Click for more words and pictures »

Wet Republic at MGM Grand does Daylife Sundays at 11 a.m. with legendary DJ Benny Benassi on his Rock N Rave Tour. Benassi brings a touch of Italy to the pool party, by which we mean he’ll be periodically sprinkling oregano on girls in bikinis. Looking for sun in all the wrong places? Read on. Tequila and sorbet: So happy together.
What two things scream summer more than anything else? No, not sweat and reruns. More like tequila, that double-edged sword of delight and ruin found in a handle at every barbecue next to a blender and a bottle of sweet and sour; and ice cream, the symbol of your summertime innocence.
So let’s just dispense with all that messy innocence and bring the ice cream — sorbet in this case — kicking and screaming into adulthood. Diego at MGM Grand took two great tastes and stuffed them together in one convenient shot glass package with their Sorbet Shooters.
We had expected something more akin to a root beer float, but instead, sorbet is packed into the bottom of the shot glass with tequila on top, which is then stirred together for the coldest, thickest dose of agave you’ll ever get. Think of it as a tequila shake. Click for more words and pictures »

Flo Rida. Not pictured: Sidekick Diz Neywolrd.
Flo Rida did a five-song set at MGM Grand’s Wet Republic yesterday, including “Low” and “Elevator.” He ran around the venue to interact with crowd during the show, capping it all off with a plunge into the pool. What no one else noticed though, was the cartoonish swarm of bees, flying in formation as a giant arrow, chasing the rapper all through the venue. It totally went down like that.
After the party, he hung around in the ultra-pool’s lounge.
Also out on Sunday was Barbara Walters, who had lunch at Chinois inside Caesars Palace’s Forum Shops. At Bellagio’s Bank, Tiger Woods was getting in some quality knee rehab and Danger Mouse, Cee-Lo and company, capped off a Gnarls-tastic weekend.

DJ Scotty Boy, left, clearly loves the Blow. (Photo by Jessica Blair | SpyOnVegas.com)
DJ Scotty Boy got the night off from spinning for Rok Box at Tabu inside MGM Grand for his birthday. He was joined by DJ AM to celebrate. Also there was former Olympic wrestler and current MMA fighter Dan Henderson.
If you were a former Olympic wrestler would you ever stop putting people into half nelsons? We wouldn’t. That includes the clerk at the grocery store, the cop who’s writing us a ticket and Estelle Getty.

Easily in the top five of drug-friendly, Armenian, borderline prog metal bands ever. (Via myspace.com/soad)
Drummer John Dolmayan and bassist Shavo Odadjian of System of a Down dropped by Rok Box at MGM Grand’s Tabu last night to swig Red Bull/vodkas and hanging out with DJ Scotty Boy.
You know guys, Serj Tankian is busy putting out solo records. Maybe you shouldn’t be worrying so much about clubbing, and should be thinking about getting the band back together to put out another record like Toxicity. No one wants to be the metal version of the rest of ‘N Sync after Justin Timberlake left, however, an album of all System-ish covers of ‘N Sync songs would be inspired.
