ANDERSON HEADING NORTH

Well, that didn’t take long. Louis Anderson, who just recently announced he’ll be ending his run at the Excalibur, will head up Palace Station, taking over Bonkerz Comedy Club. That’s pretty reasonable, but we’re a little concerned over the rumors Palace is also looking to add a whole bunch of jousting to their entertainment calendar. That’s a little weird, right?

Joe Sanfelippo, the owner of the entire Bonkerz national chain, will still be on point here, but the room will be rebranded with Anderson memorabilia on the walls. Which we assume are a bunch of animation cels from Life with Louie. He’ll also continue his Standup Boot Camp for up-and-coming-comedians.

“For a long time we’ve been interested in Louie Anderson, so when he decided to make a move a few months ago, we jumped at the chance. We’re ecstatic that of all the places he could headline in Vegas, he chose Palace Station,” Stations’ vice president of entertainment Judy Alberti said in a statement. “Comedy has been a mainstay at Palace for several years, but we’ve never before had someone with Louie’s marquee value.”

PENN, ANDERSON HIT THE TOWN

In a twinbill of local, big-guy entertainers, Rio headliner Penn Jillette was spotted at the Bette Midler show last night and ducked backstage to say hello. Meanwhile, Excalibur comic Louie Anderson was at Spago inside Caesars Palace. It’s just a shame that Dom DeLuise couldn’t have been here.
