SOMEONE’S GOING TO NEED A SHOT

This is why you never go into the club unless you’re sure everyone has had their rabies shots.

DAILY SIP: SAGGIO

It’s like “Scarborough Fair” in a glass.

When designing the cocktail menu for Lavo at Palazzo, Director of Beverage Operations Edward Allen wanted to choose ingredients that reflected the Mediterranean theme. It’s a nice little bonus that sage dovetails so neatly into Nevada culture.

It’s even better that it dovetails so nicely into an intensely challenging, interesting and rewarding cocktail. The Saggio (Italian for, uh, “sage”) is one of those drinks you’ll have to dance with several times just to peel back the layers, but we have faith that you’re up to the challenge.

Using muddled sage with Stolichnaya blueberry vodka, a little fresh lemon juice and topped with white cranberry juice on the rocks, the Saggio is a simple, unassuming clear with green flecks of sage offering the only hint of the depth of the cocktail. Click for more words and pictures »

SUPER CR3W BREAKS IT DOWN AT JET

We hope that guy on the bottom doesn’t have to be the horsie EVERY time.

Jet at The Mirage brought in the Vegas-based Super Cr3w, winners of America’s Best Dance Crew season two Friday night to give it the old soft-shoe, or headspin, or whatever you want to call it. Like it’s such a big deal. No one wants to hand us free drinks and march us down the red carpet when we do the Robot, or the Worm, or our very own Robotic Worm, in the middle of the club. And all those whiners who complained that we “kept knocking over their drinks” or “were kicking their girlfriend in the face” need to get over it.

Motley Crue Drummer Tommy Lee made was out for two nights in a row, setting up shop at Lavo inside Palazzo with an unidentified blonde — no, not Vince Neil — on Thursday, then hitting up Tao at The Venetian Friday for dinner. Lavo had Perez Hilton and Amanda Bynes for dinner, in town for Tao’s three-year anniversary.

Kevin James, who did the weekend at The Mirage, dined at Stack along with Randy Couture. Another Bengal was spotted this weekend, too. Tackle Domata Peko, following in T.J. Houshmandzadeh’s lead and spending the bye week out of Cincinnati before an angry Bengals fan recognized someone from the 1-8 squad, was at Tryst inside Wynn Las Vegas.

SHEF, RAMPAGE AT LAVO

At least Rampage never charged the mound after a pickoff attempt.

Gary Sheffield and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson were both at Lavo inside Palazzo last night, which is a special and dangerous kind of mix-and-match for your crazy. You know how if you’re on antibiotics and you drink booze it just kind of blasts you into outer space? That’s got to be the kind of effect Gary Sheffield has on Rampage when they’re together in the same room. We’re shocked none of the furniture got broken.

FROM CLOUD CITY TO YOUR CITY

Well, well. What have we here?

We’ve been beating the drum as far back as September that the choice was clear in this election. That you needed to vote Apollo/Lando ‘08. Well, for a while, we were a lone voice in the wilderness, but not anymore. Now there’s one man who agrees with us: Billy Dee Goddamn Williams. So, haters? The line to begin sucking it forms to the left.

For your Election Day partying Lavo at Palazzo has an election results soiree from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Planet Hollywood is broadcasting CNN’s election coverage starting at 3 p.m. on their Miracle Mile video screens. The Eagles of Death Metal do a free Election Night show tonight at Beauty Bar, and your “I Voted” sticker can nab you freebies from The Cupcakery or tickets to the George Wallace show at The Flamingo. On Thursday, Poetry at Caesars Palace is planning an Obama victory party. No matter who you choose, we hope you cash in on the promise of abortions for some, miniature American flags for others.

NELLY MARKS 34 AT LAVO

Nelly with cake shaped like … the Brady Bunch station wagon? (Photo by Hew Burney | SpyOnVegas.com)

Nelly kicked back his 34th last night at Lavo inside Palazzo with dinner downstairs before heading up to the nightclub to get a Ford Flex cake shortly after receiving a Ford Flex as a birthday gift. For our birthday, meanwhile, we got a Funkmaster Flex CD, so it’s pretty much the same thing. Not joining Nelly, was girlfriend Ashanti, who he recently revealed actually was his girlfriend.

Joining the celebration were boxer Vernon Forrest, St. Lunatics member Murphy Lee, Kevin Federline, who was jumping into the booth to share Patron shots with DJ Vice, and poker player Antonio Esfandiari.

SMART PUSHES VOTING

Don’t be fooled by Will.i.am’s Obama pin. All the Peas are voting Apollo/Lando. (Photo by Bryan Haraway)

Amy Smart and Will.i.am took over at Lavo inside The Palazzo Saturday night for a GetOutTheVote.org party. The Black Eyed Pea spun for the crowd before everyone retreated to a table as DJ Reach took over. Someone needs to pull Clark County voter records to see how significant the impact was. Has to be about a 200 percent gain, we figure.

Also at Lavo on Saturday were Believe holdovers Neil Patrick Harris and boyfriend David Burtka, AJ Buckley, Jonathan Togo , Christina Hendricks and boyfriend Geoffrey Arend, and Justin Long. They had dinner, went outside for a hookah and then went upstairs to the club. The very thought of Christina Hendricks shaking it is enough to send bedridden old men into fits. The same crew saw Love at The Mirage along with Adam Shankman, Keir O’Donell and Joey Kerns.

Sunday saw Smart at Tao inside The Venetian having dinner with a group of 10. Earlier, it was Smart’s turn to take in a show of Love.

MAXWELL SWINGS BY LAVO, TAO

This is much better than pics of Maxwell, right? (Photo by Tony Tran | SpyOnVegas.com)

Maxwell stopped in at Tao inside The Venetian last night for Taolloween 3. (For full-on Tao madness, check the SpyOnVegas galleries here, here, here, here and here.) He started out at Lavo inside The Palazzo with his entire band and entourage for dinner. The R&B singer is currently on tour and plays The Pearl at the Palms tonight. R&B for Halloween: It’s pretty much what Vincent Price would’ve wanted.

Adrien Brody, at Lavo for the second straight night, stopped by Maxwell’s table before stepping outside with the crew to smoke a hookah. He’s thinking about having his Oscar retrofitted with pipes and a water basin. It should be pretty sweet.

Also at the restaurant were Gregory Smith of Everwood and poker pro Antonio Esfandiari.

OSCAR WINNERS VISIT LAVO

The Pianist is an uplifting musical comedy, right?

Adrien Brody was at Lavo inside Palazzo last night for dinner with Simon Rex and two friends. Also downstairs at Lavo was Dan Akroyd, who unfortunately wasn’t wearing his proton pack. That’s woefully unprepared for a ghostbuster this close to Halloween. Dr. Spengler should give him some sort of reprimand.

Director Steven Soderbergh was upstairs in the nightclub with a large group of the cast and crew of the upcoming The Girlfriend Experience, which is written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who also wrote Rounders and Ocean’s Thirteen (which Soderbergh directed). Large parts of the flick, though, will be improv. Soderbergh and Brody worked together on King of the Hill, so does this mean they’re reuniting on the largely guarded Girlfriend? Either way, that’s two Oscar winners in one club for the night, which is pretty solid. Now everyone else is going to have to scramble to haul in a few Cable Ace Award winners.

POKER PLAYERS ARE PRO HALLOWEEN

He said he’s going as Jesus. Touche. (Photo by Eric Ita | SpyOnVegas.com)

Poker pro Daniel Negreanu had dinner at Lavo inside Palazzo last night with a group of 10, where Verdine White of Earth, Wind and Fire and former Chargers standout Junior Seau also dined.

From there, Negreanu was off to Blush at Wynn Las Vegas for Trampoleen where he was joined by Chris Ferguson and Antonio Esfandiari. Seau also went across the street for the Halloween festivities.

It’s a well-known fact that poker players make their most money at Halloween, when it’s perfectly acceptable for them to wear masks at the table. No one ever can get a tell on Iron Man or Frankenstein. Hell, tired of being chased by mobs with pitchforks and torches, the real Frankenstein moved to Mississippi to become a riverboat gambler in the early 19th century. He retired a wealthy monster and went on to found Ole Miss in 1848.
