She was in a video with Willie. That’s country, right? (Photos by Scott Harrison | Retna)
Jessica Simpson — whose new album’s spot atop the country charts has reportedly caused a furious bout of synchronized spinning in the graves of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash — did a benefit concert at The Pearl inside the Palms last night for the Rape Crisis Center. She sported some turquoise jewelry to, you know, country it up. It still wasn’t enough to distract from her man-chin.

Cowboys fans everywhere are near-suicidal over her reunion with Tony Romo. HA-hah! (Photo by Scott Harrison)
Palms Place has its official launch party tomorrow night at 9 p.m. with a DJ set from daddy-to-be Pete Wentz, whose impressive turntable skills led Fall Out Boy to be the groundbreaking hip-hop sensation that it is.
Set to show are Wentz’s sister-in-law, Jessica Simpson, who had some well-placed words of caution for Jennifer Aniston, Ashley Scott, Eve, Donald Faison, Ian Ziering (about time someone got some star power up in this piece), Lauren Bosworth, Lauren Conrad, Lisa Rinna, Luke Wilson, Michael Vartan, Robert Iler, who was just the victim of an unfortunate craning, Romany Malco, Sarah Larson, Stephen Colletti and Verne Troyer.

After Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo arrived Thrusday at the Hard Rock Hotel, it only took a day for girlfriend Jessica Simpson to catch up. The duo bowled in the penthouse suite Friday night, and were joined by Dallas tight ends Jason Witten and Anthony Fasano before learning Fasano was traded to Miami for a fourth-round pick. Fasano refused to disclose whether Romo was still plagued Thursday night by nightmare visions of Osi Umenyiora coming off the edge in blitz after furious blitz.
From there, the crew went to Ago for dinner and then on to play some high-limit blackjack, where their ranks swelled to 30 strong and included NFL’ers Bobby Carpenter of the Cowboys, Oakland’s Kirk Morrison and Washington’s Keenan McCardell. Mind you, 30 pros still aren’t enough to stop a charging Reggie Torbor if he decided he wanted to come up the middle and sack Romo, but luckily for them, Torbor was neither anywhere to be found, nor is he any longer a member of the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants — much to the relief of the assembled Cowboys.
Simpson racked up a $5,000 win at the tables before the gang all went over to Body English. Did you see what we did there? Racked up a win? HEYO!

Palms Place, the multimillion-dollar, 47-story hotel, condo and spa development adjacent to the Palms Casino Resort, is quietly opening this week, but it’s not being quiet about the first celebrity to close on her purchase of a one-bedroom suite in the tower, pop star Jessica Simpson.
“We are thrilled that Jessica is among the first to purchase at Palms Place,” said owner and celeb pal George Maloof. “We’ve created a resort atmosphere unlike anything on or off the Las Vegas Strip.”
While other high-profile folks such as Hulk Hogan (in the midst of a divorce) and Eminem have also reportedly purchased condos at Palms Place, a representative of the hotel said that Simpson is the first celebrity to close on a unit. And aside from being just a SkyTube ride away from one of America’s hottest nightlife destination, Simpson and other well-monied Palms Place residents and visitors will have access to such amenities as the two-story Drift Spa, the Las Vegas location of LA Sunset Tan, Chef Kerry Simon’s latest self-named restaurant and lounge and the lobby bar Rojo Lounge.
