Ja Rule set up shop at Tao Beach today at The Venetian, having lunch in a cabana with friends, keeping things simple with a salad and a frozen Tao-tini. Even that, though, couldn’t erase the lingering sting of not being nominated for a Best Supporting Actor award for his role in The Fast and the Furious.

For a guy who lives in New Jersey and has a wife and three kids, Ja Rule sure spends a lot of time in Las Vegas nightclubs. He turned up again last night at Moon nightclub at the Palms for the Velvet Angels footwear launch party. The rapper and actor arrived about 9 p.m. with two men and took his reserved VIP table on the dance floor.
With Velvet Angels CEO Jeff Yarchever at his side, Ja Rule grabbed the mic at one point to perform some of his hits for the invite-only crowd.
Though the bash ended at 10 p.m., Ja Rule kicked it until about 11, drinking Grey Goose and tonic and shots of Jägermeister.
