As in, Drop Bar and Lobby Bar.
Green Valley Ranch debuts its Lobby Bar, in the old Whiskey location, as part of its Locals Getaway Weekend. It’s the bar near the lobby, as opposed to the bar where Washington insiders can schmooze their way to legislation. Political-wonk bars won’t be a big thing here until 2013. Jeremy Cornwall plays during the SpyOnVegas.com Open Bar from 6 to 9 p.m. On Saturday they’re doing reggae in the Lobby Bar while the party moves to the Pond on Sunday.

We appreciate how they turned The Griffin into a sex toy shop.
The Sin City Sinners are having an official release party for their debut CD, Exile on Fremont Street at Ovation inside Green Valley Ranch tonight. They’re also recording a live DVD during the show, so now’s your chance to be in pictures. Click for more words and pictures »

But how will this affect our ability to make questionable decisions regarding Fatburger after a night at Dropbar?
Guess it doesn’t matter too much if there’s no water left in Lake Mead by 2020, because apparently there aren’t going to be any casinos left, either. Stations has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for its half of Green Valley Ranch. Greenspun Corp. has the other half. We didn’t even know you could file for half a bankruptcy. Stations spokeswoman Lori Nelson says it’s all part of the company’s reorganization and that it won’t impact operations. Anything after that gets into questions of debt management and other things that make our head hurt. Click for more words and pictures »

Being the coolest guy in Damn Yankees is like being the least pack-ratty on Hoarders. (Photos by Scott Harrison | Retna)
It was just a wellspring of Nuginess this weekend with Uncle Ted at Green Valley Ranch Saturday night for the bow-and-arrowiest rock show in the game. He was joined on stage by Jack Blades, formerly of the Nuge/Night Ranger/Styx fusion joint Damn Yankees for “Cat Scratch Fever.” Yes, that Damn Yankees, the one who did a video where Ted Nugent deflects bullets through the awe-inspiring majesty of rock.
Blades on Friday jumped on stage with Steel Panther at Green Valley’s Ovation, then had dinner with The Nuge and Motley Crue/Bon Jovi/KISS/Skid Row/Scorpions manager Doc McGhee at Hank’s before the show.

There’s like an 80 percent chance he came to the stage straight from a deer blind.
Ted Nugent is a man of many things. Most of them involve projectiles. Some of them, though, involve the guitar. Fortunately for the Motor City Madman, he’s putting all of it together this weekend when he’s in town for the Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show and Conference and the Sands Expo Convention Center and a show Saturday night at Green Valley Ranch.
We talked to The Nuge when he was in the middle of duck hunting in Texas, where he declared himself “a happy, happy guitar-playing idiot.” Nugent took his first year off from touring in 2009 so he could focus on teaching his grandkids to hunt and fish, but he said life as an outdoorsmen has never taken away from Ted the Rocker.
You can find out for yourself Saturday night, where tickets for the 8 p.m. show at the Grand Events Center $27.50, $37.50, $47.50 and $57.50. In the meantime, we were able to talk to him (trying to avoid saying anything that would get us shot with a crossbow) about bands that slow down, balancing rock, politics and hunting, and, for some reason, Public Enemy. Croon, you magnificent bastard.
Richard Cheese’s act isn’t just good for Vegas, it is Vegas. It’s the smoothing out the rough edges of pop culture, it’s the winking artifice, it’s the tiger print, it’s the heavy, heavy drinking.
Even though it seems like Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine should be installed permanently outside of Bally’s, Saturday’s tilt at Ovation inside Green Valley Ranch is going to be their last — in this incarnation. The auteur of lounge is coming back with a little more island flavor on the upcoming Lavapalooza, so Saturday night is the big, swingin’ send-off.
We caught up with Cheese to talk to him about the change in direction, his plans for the show and how tigers should get a vote on City Council. Click for more words and pictures »

Like, the best groupie ever. (Photo by Scott Harrison | Retna)
Tera Patrick was over at Ovation inside Green Valley Ranch Saturday night to watch husband Evan Seinfeld’s band Spyderz do a set with the Sin City Sinners. This is the second time in less than a month that the Spyderz and Sinners have played together with Patrick turning out for both shows. Really, how often do you get to see a porn star and her sometimes-co-star husband together at a rock show? Other than, apparently, every three to four weeks or so?

Artist’s interpretation.
In the pantheon of surreal things you don’t ever expect to see, Dennis Haskins singing Alice Cooper slots in somewhere between “Freshman-era Marlon Brando winning a sprint against Usain Bolt” and “Michael Bay ripping down a Best Director Oscar,” yet there you had it Friday night.
Haskins joined Steel Panther on stage at Ovation inside Green Valley Ranch to do “School’s Out” — and he honestly nailed it. Maybe every day after Saved by the Bell finished taping he’d go sit in his trailer and listen to “I’m Eighteen” over and over again or something. We don’t have all the answers here. It got a little weird when he started chasing guitarist Satchel around to fake-hump him, but for God’s sake, he was Mr. Belding. He’s earned the right.
By the time the band moved on to a rousing take on Slaughter’s “Up All Night,” Haskins had left the stage, leaving an entire shell-shocked room looking around trying to figure out of what they’d just seen actually happened. It totally did, and now we can never look at Kelly Kapowski again without thinking of “Billion Dollar Babies.” So, thanks for that, Dennis Haskins.

The cast of Valkyrie. The first act is about Cruise learning not to run with scissors.
Director Bryan Singer (Usual Suspects, Superman Returns) is rumored to be at Green Valley Ranch’s Regal Theaters for a 7:30 p.m. test screening of his new movie Valkyrie. The World War II drama, based on a true story, stars Tom Cruise as a German officer attempting to assassinate Adolph Hitler. No word yet on whether Singer has added a super-powered baby Hitler to the cast.
