Efren Ramirez of Napolean Dynamite kicked off his DJ set at Dos Caminos inside Palazzo last night with “Ghostbusters.” No, there’s nothing specifically Cinco de Mayo-related about “Ghostbusters” but this is the exact proper way to start any DJ set, and we kind of wish everyone else would get on board already. It would finally lead to the Ray Parker Jr. guest sets we so richly deserve.
In addition to luchadores, the crowd included Chris Phillips of Zowie Bowie. Wait, luchadores and “Ghostbusters?” Was it Cinco de Mayo or “Everything We Thought Was Completely Rad in 1985 and if You Really Pressed Us Still Do in 2010 Day?”

It’s a good week for ethnocentric drinking. There’s San Gennaro coming this weekend and Cinco de Mayo today. We assume you’re already sweating blue agave at this point, but if you have yet to consume so much tequila that you’re seriously considering trying mezcal, you have two options for your celebrity-enhanced Cinco experience. Erik Estrada to hosts T&T’s 12 Hours of Cinco de Mayo, going until midnight, with Angelica Bridges, Carrot Top and the Thunder from Down Under dudes. At Palazzo, Dos Caminos enlists Napolean Dynamite’s Efren Ramirez. Although you may want to wait for 2012 and a proper election cycle to vote for Pedro, and not mess around with this midterm stuff. Anna Paquin, seen here not getting punched by the greatest boxer of all time. (Photo by Ana Dobrijevic)
True Blood’s Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer couldn’t stay for the whole show of Viva Elvis Sunday night because they had to catch a flight. Good thing they could get past the bouncer on the way out — Muhammad Ali, who was in with his daughter Marilyn and her family. They should’ve included a scene in the show where the trampoline superheroes just started punching the crap out of each other in Ali’s honor.
Dos Caminos at Palazzo saw Leonardo DiCaprio and Vin Diesel and two other guys having brunch. We’re not sure why when you’re Leonardo DiCaprio you’d choose to spend your Sunday mornings staring at Vin Diesel’s ugly mug when you could be sitting comfortably in a chair made out of supermodels, but then, we probably just don’t appreciate a Mimosa quite like we should.
Paris and Nicky Hilton had dinner at Palazzo’s Lavo before going up to the club. Paris was dancing on a banquette and singing her own songs, because that’s not the kind of thing you want to entrust to amateurs.
Lisa Kudrow was at Society Cafe inside Encore with three others for a late lunch. James Carville was there too. At least everyone assumed it was James Carville when nobody could understand what the hell the bald guy at table 14 was saying.
Wayne Brady, who said that his two biggest inspirations were Elvis and Sammy Davis, Jr., brought his girlfriend and daughter to see Viva Elvis last night at Aria. Also, we now won’t have to ask any questions if Wayne Brady ever shows up to Let’s Make a Deal with a glass eye.
Over at Dos Caminos inside Palazzo, Paris Hilton and two friends had dinner. She tried to hide out by wearing a hat, dark sunglasses and drinking virgin Pina Coladas. To be fair, if we saw anyone in the world drinking virgin Pina Coladas, we’d automatically disqualify them from potentially being Paris Hilton.
Finally, Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil was at N9NE Steakhouse last night with his wife and a friend. He had the Dover sole, but we didn’t hear anything about a Wild Side Dish. (Rimshot!)
Gretzky won an NHL record nine Hart Trophies as the league’s MVP, but to us, he’ll always be the guy who won five Lady Byng Trophies for being the league’s biggest sissy.
Arguably the greatest athlete to ever strap on a pair of ice skates, not including William “The Fridge” Perry’s ill-advised Winter Olympics bid, Wayne Gretzky took over the private dining room at TAO on Saturday throwing a 21st birthday weekend celebration for his daughter, Paulina. After a feast of signature Asian dishes they made their way to a VIP table on the dance floor to take in the sounds of DJ Vice.
The Great One was also spotted having lunch on Friday at Dos Caminos inside The Palazzo. He was joined by wife, Janet, and a friend, and enjoyed the restaurant’s famed guacamole and Dos Enchiladas.
The lunch was almost broken up by thugs who kept shoving Gretzky and not letting him near his plate until Marty McSorley was brought in as protection.
There’s a pretty good chance you thought you were celebrating Mexican Independence Day on Cinco de Mayo, but no matter how many Dos Equis you drank, it’s actually the celebration of the Battle of Pueblo. The real Mexican Independence Day is Sept. 16, but festivities always start the night of the 15th.
Just in time, SpyOnVegas.com brings back Fude to Dos Caminos at Palazzo that Tuesday with booze and three courses for $34.95 from 6 to 9 p.m. Your choices of appetizers include Mexican chopped salad or plantain empanadas; enchiladas, black angus skirt steak or ancho crusted tuna for your entree; and tres leches flan or crepas de cajeta for dessert. Go reserve yourself a spot here.
Megan Fox was at the 7 p.m. performance of Mystere inside Treasure Island last night with her sister, her sister’s boyfriend and not-at-all-offensive-in-any-way giant robot Skids from Transformers 2: Revenge of Optimus Prime Busting Through the Luxor.
Wait, wait, no. That was just Brian Austin Green. Our bad. Tough to tell them apart. The four of them arrived via limo and ducked into the theater just as the show was starting. The gang also turned up at Dos Caminos inside Palazzo.
Does … does Fox know that Green once called himself The Notorious B.A.G.? We feel like someone should let her know that. There’s no way she could stay with him if she knew, right? Like, he must spend all his days buying up copies of the hip-hop record he did and burying them in the desert while he pays a flunky to keep rewriting his Wiki page so she never finds out. Aren’t they supposed to be broken up anyway? Do you think this relationship eats away at Luke Perry knowing if he had moved fast enough it could be him? Is he somewhere erasing the face off of Green in old 90210 cast photos?
Why yes, that IS applause-worthy cake. (Photos by Erik Kabik | Retna)
Saturday was chock full o’ Khloe Kardashian. She was at the Simon G Spring Bling event benefiting the Lili Claire Foundation at the Palazzo’s Azure Pool, hosted by her mother, Kris Jenner, and Vanessa Minnillo along with designer David Alexander, Bethenny Frankel, Holly Madison, Brittny Gantineau, Lacey Schwimmer, Annie Wersching and with performances from Sara Bareilles and Colby O’Donis.
Then Kardashian hosted the afterparty at Dos Caminos, where Minnillo, Jenner and O’Donis drank Veuve Clicquot. American Idol contestant Chikezie was there, as were “I Swear” singers All 4 One, who were also at the fundraiser earlier. Color Me Badd was totally booked for the night.
Kardashian shopped for the event at Barney’s earlier and got on the catwalk to model a David Alexander dress. Schwimmer, who was rumored to be an item with Steve-O from Jackass, was with new boyfriend and Paula Abdul backup dancer John Derek Guthrie. Apparently having a giant tattoo of yourself on your back is a turn-off for her. She also said she’ll most likely be dancing with Donny Osmond during the next season of Dancing with the Stars. She plans to return to Palazzo for her 21st birthday in a few months.

Daisy-lovin’ hopefuls Cage and Tool Box, two of the latest to go through the Chris Abrego VH1 sausage grinder on Daisy of Love, were at CatHouse inside Luxor Wednesday night, coming in around 3 a.m. One-time Miss America Katie Rees was also there, while Mike Tyson — who has his own documentary out and has The Hangover on its way, was spotted with a ladyfriend. What was Tyson’s irresistible pick-up line?
Over at Dos Caminos inside Palazzo, Craftsteak chef and Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio was having dinner, while comic Eddie Griffin was in the lounge.
Rumored Peepshow next-gen star Holly Madison was at Primp salon inside Palms Place yesterday getting a trim and roots job. She had to get ready for today’s Bikini Death March going on right now on the Strip.
Finally, two of the best poker pros in the game right now, Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu were at Playboy Club playing a little blackjack. Sometimes, when you gamble for a living, you’ve just got to blow off a little steam gambling.
Red Sunset at night, sailor’s delight. That’s a Fixx song, right? Whoah-oh. Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh.
You got flowers in my tequila! You got tequila in my flowers! Either way, it’s the basis of one of the new spring offerings at Dos Caminos inside The Palazzo from mixologist Eben Klem.
Use an ounce and a half of hibiscus-infused Corzo silver tequila (like we’re sure you already have around the house), add a little agave nectar and passion fruit juice then top with lemonade. Shake it up and pour it over ice into a rocks glass and garnish with a sprig of mint.
What you end up with is a drink that’s immediately complex, but so well-balanced and refreshing that it has almost no aftertaste. There’s kind of an initial burst of tequila, but the floral notes permeate both the sharp spice of tequila and the bright citrus to unify the whole package. Click for more words and pictures »
