LAST CHANCE FOR V-DAY DINING IN VEGAS

Morels

Seriously, if you haven’t made Valentine’s dinner plans yet, there may be no hope for you. But let’s say you finally got up the nerve to ask out that Starbucks barista and she finally agreed to spend V-Day with you just today. Here’s one more dinner option – if you can get reservations in the next three hours — that might leave you broke after the fact, but should guarantee you get some good coffee the next day regardless.

Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro inside the Palazzo is offering special menu options for Valentine’s Day, starting with an appetizer special for $31 per person that includes Fennel Dusted Diver Scallops, White Sturgeon Caviar, English Pea Veloute and Market Glazed Carrots.

“Scallops and caviar are a great pairing and a luxurious item to eat, which makes it perfect for Valentine’s Day,” said Morels Executive Chef Eric Bauer. “This dish is highly pleasing to both the eye and the palate.” Click for more words and pictures »

DINING IN VEGAS FOR V-DAY, PART DEUX

Alize, Andre’s, KOI

Last time we checked, there were about 9,356,984* restaurants in Las Vegas, so if we missed a few hundred in our Valentine’s Day dinner preview last week, sue us. We’re going to make up for it now, though, as we preview a few other dining options if you still haven’t decided where you’re going to shell out your hard-earned cash in order to guarantee you don’t sleep alone Thursday night. Just make those reservations soon!

Koi restaurant inside Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino is offering a special V-Day tasting menu for you Japanese food aficionados. At $100 per person with optional $100 wine pairing, this meal should at least guarantee you get to third base. The five-course meal includes Kumomoto oysters, heart-shaped (of course) sushi and sashimi, baked lobster roll with Ichimi Créme Fraîche, either pan-seared Chilean sea bass or Kobe-style filet mignon and sweet finishers such as chocolate almond fondue or Fruit of the Forest cheesecake. Damn, we’re hungry now.

Andre’s – a classic downtown Vegas institution at 401 S. Sixth St. – is offering a special Valentine’s menu for $105 per person with seating at three times: 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. The French menu includes a number of choices over the course of the meal, including foie gras, lobster bisque, seared diver sea scallop, marinated duck breast, yellowtail, lamb, salads and, of course, delicious desserts such as pastries, chocolate soufflé or flourless cake. VALENTINE’S DINING IN VEGAS UNCOVERED

Valentines yummies

Let’s face it: Valentine’s Day is just another made-up, consumer-driven holiday that allows you to obscure your tumultuous about-to-break-up-for-the-fifth-time relationship. Why should there be one specific day for something that should be nurtured year-round? But I digress … For those of you looking to make friends jealous by blasting your fabulous Valentine’s pics all over MySpace or for those just looking to score, Daily Fiasco has kindly – and with love, of course – made a list of some cool restaurants and happenings about town for your over-the-top, love-filled extravaganza.
