We get that The D has this whole Detroit connection going on, but man. Did they have to go and hire human tire fire Kid Rock to celebrate their anniversary just because he’s from the Motor City? You can’t tell us they couldn’t find some way get the MC5? If for no other reason than to see the horrified reactions from bead-swinging tourists to “Kick out the Jams”
But no. The D’s first anniversary will be marked Sept. 26-28 with, in order, Uncle Kracker, Fake Stone Temple Pilots with Lincoln Park’s Chester Bennington and Kid Rock. Notably, it’ll be only the second show for the Benington-fronted STP. Look for the entirely unnecessary hip-hop breakdowns during “Plush.” All three shows will be on the 3rd Street Stage at 9 p.m. on their respective nights.
