DON’T TAKE MONEY, DON’T TAKE FAME

Can’t believe Huey Lewis wasn’t invited. They should be ashamed. (Photos by Scott Harrison | Retna)
The Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health held the Power of Love Gala Saturday night at Bellagio with a performance from Barry Manilow doing “Can’t Smile Without You,” “Looks Like We Made It” and “Copacabana with nary so much as a backing saxophone from The News. It’s like the whole thing was organized by Ray Parker Jr. or something.
Holly Madison, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman, Andre Agassi and Stefi Graf, Leeza Gibbons, Brad Garret, Wolfgang Puck and Thomas Keller were all there for the three-course Puck and Keller dinner. A charity auction offered up a watch designed by Madison, an afternoon of lunch and tennis with Agassi and Graf, lunch with DeVito and the cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and two seats to a game of hold ‘em with Garrett and Ray Romano. Which, if you throw Kevin James in there too is just about the plot to the next Adam Sandler movie.
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman were also in town, although they were here to go weightless on a Zero G flight out of McCarran airport. It was Kidman’s Christmas present from Urban. That’s a cool gift, but it does kind of set the standard for needing to lay on more and more gravity-free gifts. Christmas 2009: Weightless flight. Christmas 2010: Hover tree. They had dinner with the rest of the fliers at the Four Seasons
Finally, Avatar actor Sam Worthington was at Dos Caminos for Margaritas and tacos. He was with an unidentified female friend, who we’re assuming was 10 feet tall, blue and juggling balls of unobtanium. It’s Oscar season, people, and you have to do what you can to campaign.
