He took us to the “Candy Shop,” and we took him to our hearts. Or at least Justin Bartha’s heart. And it was the wedding cover, not 50 Cent. Look, the point we’re trying to make here is that Dan Finnerty of The Dan Band, the hidden gem of Old School and The Hangover was in town to do up his 40th birthday.

Wife and actress Kathy Majimy surprised him with the trip, starting out the way all good surprise trips do, on a private jet. They started with dinner at Lagasse’s Stadium for a VIP luxury box cocktail party that included Ricki Lake, Camryn Manheim, Adam Carolla, Helen Hunt, Cheri Oteri and Nia Vardalos. Venetian opera singer Suzanne the Duchess sang “Happy Birthday” in Italian. Lake and Hunt kept busy playing Ms. Pac-Man. If there was a Galaga up in that luxury box, you know as well as we do you couldn’t have gotten Ricki Lake out of the room unless you told her John Waters was over at the club looking for her.

From there the group of 30 went up to Tao for dinner, joined around 10:30 p.m. by Meg Ryan, who sat and chatted with Helen Hunt, before everyone hit their table at the club. Ryan was coming straight from the Hope for Haiti telethon. (On Saturday, she took in Love at The Mirage, which she hit up with Mike Myers’ ex-wife, Robin Rozan. Also doing Cirque this weekend was everybody’s favorite shirtless Iron Man 2 villain, Mickey Rourke checking out Viva Elvis with girlfriend Anastassija Makarenko. No, seriously, why have the last two Mickey Rourke movies involved him not wearing a shirt for large chunks of the film?)

On Saturday, Finnerty and Majima were joined by Ryan, Manheim, Oteri, Lake and Vardalos at Dos Caminos for brunch. That night they kept it going with a trip to Lavo for dinner.
