Though Monster Circus didn’t become the stage fixture that organizers expected it to be when a brutal stretch in the summer claimed shows and venues alike, the ’80s metal extravaganza took its first baby steps last December as a Toys for Tots fundraiser.
Clearly, Christmas and Dee Snider go together like Linus and uncomfortably long sermons.
Twisted Sister, which put out a Christmas album in 2006, kicks off the first of three holiday shows at the Hilton at 8 p.m. tonight. It’s more apropos than you think: When Snider wrote “We’re Not Gonna Take It” he aped the melody to “O Come All Ye Faithful.” Check it for yourself, and rest comfortable in the fact that even in 2008, Twisted Sister videos rely on a framing device where some angry snob gets their comeuppance through the awe-inspiring majesty of rock. Also, the buttoned-up broad turns into a rock slut once the band starts playing. Seriously, we need more ’80s metal videos. For everything.
