SANTAS ON THE RUN

God, it’s like the cops threatened to round up the entire Salvation Army.
There’s going to be more Santas running around than a Dec. 18 fire at the Mall of America.
Opportunity Village is looking to set the record for the largest gathering of Santas at the 5k Las Vegas Great Santa Run at Town Square at 10 a.m. Saturday with Kurt Busch, Oscar Goodman, Sen. John Ensign and entertainment by Zowie Bowie, Yellow Brick Road, Phat Strad, Jeff Civillico and Dr. Zhivegas. There’s both a 5k and a mile run around Town Square
It is, apparently, a good weekend to run, because the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon is going on too, with the Sin City Sinners and Donovan Frankenreiter providing entertainment for the race benefiting the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. That one starts from Las Vegas Boulevard after everyone gathers at the Mandalay Bay parking lot and the course runs from Industrial to Twain to Decatur to Hacienda all the way up to Spanish Trail for the marathon, with half marathon and marathon-and-a-half taking alternate routes.
This of course, assumes you’re happy to spend your weekend running all over the city instead of nestled snugly in your hangover. We trust you and copious amounts of rum will make the right decision.
