ON STAGE AFTER HOURS

Everyone knows the best shows are hosted by drag magicians.

Seriously, you have to love the Harmon Theater. Not only is the space itself rad as all get out, but they take real, honest-to-God chances with a room more or less on the Strip. You’d think they’re trying to stand out or something. Now if we could just get an actual major casino showroom to put in an act that isn’t Cirque, post-Broadway retreads or music for people over 45 who think Hoobastank is edgy.

But, we digress. Even though the conceptually cool Sin City Comedy didn’t last long before moving to the V, the Harmon is trying again with another fusion show. This time, it’s a weekly variety showcase called After the Show, hosted by Magic’s a Drag star Cashetta.

The show will take entertainers from the current crop of stage productions, plus up-and-comers, and give them a spot to cut loose and try new material, all while providing a showcase for guests to get on stage and do whatever it is they can do (and the world wants to hear your fresh, hip Nicholson impression — so get practicing). The first show is Monday, and will run at 10 p.m. weekly on that day. Already lined up for the first show are Dave Johnson of Magic and Comedy, comic Penny Wiggins, singer Erica Jones and magician Jason Andrews. Best part? Free for locals. Only $10 for tourists.
