MAN V. BURRITO

“OK, Adam. In this scene, your motivation is being really hungry. Hungry for burrito. Got it? Break!”
Adam Richman, the Man of Travel Channel’s Man v. Food fame, was at Hash House A Go Go Friday and at The Sahara’s NASCAR Cafe on Saturday where he took on the Big Badass Burrito. Or B³ to its friends.
Richman worked the crowd, promising people he’d stick around to take pictures and sign autographs after he finished eating “As long as my stomach and colon will allow.” He did four interviews with customers having lunch about the six-pound, two-foot monster burrito before shooting the opening for the challenge bit. A couple of the girls from the cafe kneeled by his side while he did a few takes for the big intro wearing, for some reason, sunglasses.
The production was running a couple hours late, so we didn’t get to see if he finished the burrito. The word in the crowd was that Richman had a tummy ache that stopped him from eating on schedule. It’s not a job for the faint of heart. Or esophagus.
The new season of the show starts Aug. 5, and the air date on the Vegas episode hasn’t been released yet. We’re hoping they do a spin-off series called Man v. Foodie where a corndog-loving regular schmuck has to eat something from a top kitchen and a gourmand has to choke down something fried and covered in cheese sauce. Whoever can do it with less of a look of revulsion on their face wins. Actually, if the Travel Channel ever wants to start doing Man v. Booze, we’re available. Our phone lines are open day or night. For reals. We work cheap.
