NOTHING ROTTEN FOR WSOP WINNER

With his winnings, Eastgate is actually considering buying Belgium.

It’s the biggest thing to happen for Denmark since Hamlet: Peter Eastgate brings home the World Series of Poker to the Land of Lego shortly after 2:30 a.m. It was the longest final table the WSOP has had.

Eastgate busted foe Ivan Demidov on a board of K-3-2-4-7 while holding A-5 for a straight to his opponent’s 4-2 for two pair. For the winner, it’s a $9.1 million payday, while Demidov took home $5.8 million. Eastgate becomes the youngest winner of the Main Event in Series history, and the first to be able to shout “The Russian is cut!” If only this were held last week when Hulk Hogan was in town, we could have worked Thunderlips into this tortured, tortured metaphor.

The final table airs tonight on ESPN at 9 p.m.
