UNLV men’s basketball coach Lon Kruger hosted the first Coaches vs. Cancer Las Vegas Golf Classic today at TPC Summerlin to raise money for American Cancer Society and Nevada Cancer Institute. Tonight at the Hardwood Suite inside The Palms, guests and top hoops coaches from around the country will participate a silent auction. It is, however, the Hardwood Suite, so anyone who misses their free throws will have to stay around after the event until they sink 20 in a row.

Tomorrow, the second day of play takes place at Southern Highlands Golf Course with prizes from Tiffany & Co. for top performers. We would’ve had a shot, but our short game is awful lately. Plus, we’ve been shanking it off the tee. Not really doing much with the irons, either. We’re excellent at driving the cart and drinking overpriced Coors Light, though.
