DINING IN VEGAS FOR V-DAY, PART DEUX

Last time we checked, there were about 9,356,984* restaurants in Las Vegas, so if we missed a few hundred in our Valentine’s Day dinner preview last week, sue us. We’re going to make up for it now, though, as we preview a few other dining options if you still haven’t decided where you’re going to shell out your hard-earned cash in order to guarantee you don’t sleep alone Thursday night. Just make those reservations soon!
Koi restaurant inside Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino is offering a special V-Day tasting menu for you Japanese food aficionados. At $100 per person with optional $100 wine pairing, this meal should at least guarantee you get to third base. The five-course meal includes Kumomoto oysters, heart-shaped (of course) sushi and sashimi, baked lobster roll with Ichimi Créme Fraîche, either pan-seared Chilean sea bass or Kobe-style filet mignon and sweet finishers such as chocolate almond fondue or Fruit of the Forest cheesecake. Damn, we’re hungry now.
Andre’s – a classic downtown Vegas institution at 401 S. Sixth St. – is offering a special Valentine’s menu for $105 per person with seating at three times: 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. The French menu includes a number of choices over the course of the meal, including foie gras, lobster bisque, seared diver sea scallop, marinated duck breast, yellowtail, lamb, salads and, of course, delicious desserts such as pastries, chocolate soufflé or flourless cake.
For something a bit more dramatic, perhaps Alizé, located atop the Palms Casino Resort, is more your style. Seating times are also at 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., but the special menu will cost $125 per person (have to pay for that view!). Among the options in this spread are crab bisque, Ahi tuna, smoked salmon, foie gras, Chilean sea bass, filet mignon, lamb and finishers such as pineapple tarte, strawberries with chocolate fondue or chocolate and coconut Panna Cotta.
*Estimate only.
