BIG GAME WEEKEND AT PALMS A BIG DRAW

Rob Dyrdek, Joe Rogan

It might come as little surprise that The Palms Casino Resort found itself full of celebrities this weekend in town for some Super Bowl action. For three days, the popular off-strip resort played host to stars of music, sports, film and more.

Things kicked off Friday when New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter had dinner at N9NE Steakhouse with a group of friends before wandering up to the Playboy Club to play $200 to $800 hands of blackjack.

Fresh from his Playboy Comedy standup gig in the Palms’ Lounge, Joe Rogan headed up to Moon nightclub with 10 people in tow, relaxing at a table with shots of Le Tourment Vert French Absinthe and Patrón Platinum.

Saturday it seemed the world descended on the Palms. The odd combo of skateboarder Rob Dyrdek, rapper Xzibit and baseball legend Barry Bonds enjoyed dinner at N9NE Steakhouse. At the same time, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith was also dining in the popular restaurant with three pals.

Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was hanging at Playboy Club that night with a group of 6 friends, enjoying bottles of Makers Mark, Grey Goose and Absinthe. Oddly, Hoffman declined having his photo taken with the Bunnies because he has a girlfriend. Sounds to us like maybe he wasn’t where he was supposed to be. But you know, that’s just a theory.

Crazy Town’s Seth “Shifty Shellshock” Binzer – who earlier attended the opening of Robert M Knight’s Symbolic Gallery exhibit – kept his figurative nose clean, drinking only water while enjoying the company of the Bunnies. Jeter was on hand at the blackjack tables again, and Binzer stopped by to greet the baseball great and watch a friend gamble as well. Celebrity chef Kerry Simon and Sons of Hollywood producer-writer-star David Weintraub were caught on the scene as well.
On yesterday’s “Big Game” day, Dyrdek enjoyed the game at the Bunny-tastic club as a guest of Joe Maloof before hitting Nove Italiano for dinner with George Maloof’s assistant, Julius Jones, and a few friends.

Buffalo Bills center Melvin Fowler and ESPN SportsCenter anchor Scott Van Pelt dined in N9NE Steakhouse following the game, where the Maloof family was celebrating the birthday of matriarch Colleen Maloof.

Jeter and some friends also enjoyed some Grey Goose cocktails and water at a dance floor table inside Moon before heading down to the Playboy Club for the VIP, invite-only after-game party where Dyrdek was also a guest.
